Our athletes have played great games with lots of fantastic teamwork! Our coaches have been awesome in the guidance of these young players. Our Midget team made it to the play-offs. Our Beginners had a blast— even though they played against mostly second graders! We’re building a great bench for next year!
The John Bower Sunday School Basketball League season began Dec. 16, 2006 with St. Mark's youth participating in three teams. With twelve children on the Beginner Pee-Wee team, St. Mark's was able to field a team without support from another church. The two older teams combined with children from Messiah Lutheran, since neither congregation had enough youth for two teams. With our joining forces, all interested kids had the opportunity to play.
In the older teams, the St. Mark’s and Messiah players got along very well and worked together even better on the court. All-in-all, we have a fantastic group of kids that represented us!!
A team party took place Saturday, March 3, at noon, in Fellowship Hall, with pizza and snacks, games and awards. On March 4, 2007 Pastor Elkin recognized these special athletes at Sunday services.
