THEY DID IT!

Confirmation class leads Children’s Church

The confirmation class put together and led the Children’s Church service on Sunday, March 11. As part of their education and service projects, the students learned the different parts of the weekly service (how many of you know the four main parts?) and what it takes to find appropriate music, and write a sermon in addition to the physical preparation that day.

Paige, Brandon, Sara and Christina (Declan filled in for Hannah, who was ill) showed up bright and early at 8:30 a.m.—quite a feat considering the class's trip the day before and the time change!—and began going through their check-list for set-up.  When asked if something was done, the frequent answer was, “We did that already!”  During the Sunday School hour, they rehearsed their sermon and the order of service.

They were all set and ready to go when the “littles” processed to the Chapel at 10:30.  All progressed smoothly and the younger children were very responsive to the sermon, “Better next Time.”  The confirmands were thrown a curve ball when, having to fill time, their congregation was invited to ask about what it was like to prepare and lead the service and about their trip the day before.

They said they would like to repeat the experience and the younger kids indicated that it was something that they would look forward to doing when they get older. Great job everyone!!
