Three Young Men Confirmed on Pentecost Sunday 2022

On June 5, 2022, three young men became confirmed members of St. Mark's. Levi Gair, Hudson Ott and Nolan Ott were confirmed on Pentecost Sunday during the service.

What is confirmation? Affirmation of Baptism is a much more descriptive name Confirmation. Basically, it’s an opportunity for people to affirm for themselves the promises that their parents, sponsors and congregation made for them at their baptism. At baptism, parents make this promise: “… to live with them among God’s faithful people, bring them to the word of God and the holy supper, teach them the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed and the Ten Commandments, place in their hands the holy Scriptures, and nurture them in faith and prayer, so that your children may learn to trust God, proclaim Christ through word and deed, care for others and the world God made, and work for justice and peace.”

At their affirmation of baptism, confirmands are asked to make this promise for themselves: “…to live among God’s faithful people, to hear the word of God and share in the Lord’s Supper, to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed, to serve all people, following the example of Jesus, and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.” The process of confirmation prepares people to boldly and confidently make those promises, affirm their baptisms and continue to live out their faith in the church.

Congratulation to Levi, Hudson and Nolan for this milestone in their lives.
