Celebrating Blanket Sunday & Harvest Home
The quilters have been very busy over the last year. Nearly 90 quilts were stitched by these talented ladies.
On Sunday, October 4, their handiwork was displayed in the Nave. Every pew, the alter and the balcony was decorated with a beautiful quilt.
Although the decoration was lovely, the quilts will be put to better use, covering those in need in other countries. Lutheran World Ministry will distribute the quilts to places where warmth is required, but means are limited.
Then on October 11, we celebrated Harvest Home, in the traditional way. Food was donated for distribution in Williamsport. The children's offering in Children's Church, was an item of food for someone in need. These items were collected in the two prior weeks and promised to the Food Pantry which is housed in the Castellano Center near Maynard Street.
Thank you to all those who brought items as well as to Carl and Bev Hieber who packed the many items and transported them.
Other decorations, pumpkins, Indian corn, and chrysanthemums were provided and arranged by Sally Bjornstad and Cindy Huff.
