Harvest Home Sunday - Blanket Sunday
St. Mark's celebrated a "Day of Thanksgiving" on Sunday, October 5, by bringing nonperishable items to Church, for the local United Churches Food Pantry. The congregation's donations were displayed during both services, before being transferred to the pantry.
People in need are given a three day supply of food. We thank God for what He has given us, by helping others who are in need.
On the same Sunday, the St. Mark's quilters displayed their work. Every pew was adorned with one or more of the beautiful quilts created by the St. Mark's quilting group over the last year.
This year, the ladies sewed 108 quilts. The quilts will be sent over-seas to needy people, by Lutheran World Relief. Monetary donations were also collected to assist with the cost of the shipping of the quilts to folks who need them.
