On a sunny Saturday before Easter, the eggs appeared, on schedule, in St. Mark's courtyard. Some were well hidden - some not so well hidden - but there were plenty for all.
Then - the race was on. First, the little ones tottled out, and seemed to be in awe of the speckled lawn. They quickly got to the business of filling their baskets. Then the older kids flew onto the field, and with no hesitation, began to fill their baskets.
As baskets filled, pockets and hoods served as substitute baskets. Seems there was no lack of eggs this year.
The kids were quite energetic in their pursuit of eggs. That burst of energy was probably directly related to the hearty breakfast served earlier in the day. The teens and 'tweens, with little adult assistance, cooked up and served a fine meal of pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage.
After all the Easter Eggs were opened and all the treats collected, the kids had one last task. They put together bags of jelly beans for the Easter Day service. Each color of bean has a meaning.
Everyone had a great time - hunters, helpers and parents. A wonderful prelude to the Easter celebration.
