Last October when long-time organist Dick Lakey left for St. Luke Lutheran, there was a great deal of concern that we would struggle to find an interim organist to play during our services. Everyone was well aware of the general shortage of organists in the region and some feared that music-free services might become the norm.
To our rescue came Donna Elkin, our pastor's wife and talented organist. She jumped right in and, without missing a beat, served 6 months as music and choir director and organist.
The transition went very smoothly (at least from the perspective of those in the pews). Services proceeded without a hitch.
During her time of service, Donna did more than just conduct a routine worship service. From featuring talented youth soloists, to the youth orchestra on Christmas Eve, to bell choir performances, she sought to make the services more beautiful and memorable.
Thanks, Donna, for standing in!
