The Consecration Sunday celebration continues to be very important in the life of the congregation. It is our annual opportunity to reflect on the generous gifts God has granted to us and to plan how we can best use them in the ministries of the congregation and in our daily lives.
The Consecration Sunday celebration involves food, of course. For the past several years, St. Mark's cooperated with the members of St. Luke Lutheran Church to provide a breakfast and lunch. As usual, St. Luke prepared very good food, and everyone left the table feeling very satisfied.
In a bit of a different twist to the traditional Consecration Sunday sermon, rather than bring in a guest speaker, several of our members engaged in a thought provoking dialog, entitled "An everyday prayer." Lew Kolb, Pastor Elkin, Ray Huff and Bernadette Jones presented the Parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector in a way that demonstrated it's central point and depicted the reasons for contributing to the Church.
