We had an amazing day at Corning on Saturday, November 13. We left St. Mark’s at 8:00 a.m., racing to Corning, NY, for a 9:20 start time for our hot glass workshops—just scraping in without a second to spare. Those who made sandblasting projects had a more leisurely entrance, as their time was scheduled at 10.
Twenty of us enjoyed a day of fun and learning, seeing glassblowing and glass breaking demonstrations (ask Theoron about that one!), doing other hands-on things and viewing exhibits. The featured exhibit was called "Popes, Princes and Peasants." Among the items in the exhibit were a beaker sealed in the 16th century by an Austrian Abbot, containing a holy relic. Also, a goblet rumored to be "Charlemagne's Cup" was on display. Very impressive!
We left around 3:00, viewing gorgeous skies on the way home.
