How many ways have we been blessed by God in each other’s company at home and at church? These blessings do not end, but they certainly do change as our lives unfold day by day. We will ask God to continue to bless us all as we move through these transitions, to remain faithful, and bound together in the one communion of the Body of Christ.
On Sunday, August 16, 2009, St. Mark's celebrated a milestone as it blessed 5 young adults who were leaving home for their freshman year of college. The congregation prayed for the Lord's blessing to parents and their young adult children as they were entering a new phase of life; acknowledging their sadness at what is being left behind and yet to celebrating the opportunities opening before them. Those celebrating the milestone were Brett Campbell, son of Kathy & Greg Dancho; Lauren Campbell, daughter of Kathy & Greg Dancho; Katlin Jensen daughter of Mike & Pam Jensen; Sara Larson daughter of daughter of Nancy & Ernie Larson; and, Katie Schmitt Doug & Beverly Schmitt.
To assist with vital communication, the congregation presented the new college students with an address-book, embossed with their names and a sign of this Christian community. There were several entries already within it: email addresses for the Pastor and other adult contacts with Sunday School leaders.
At the conclusion of the service, the soon-to-be freshmen were greeted by the congregation at a reception held in their honor in the courtyard of the church.
